Think of Siberian Cranes and you will remember Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. Bharatpur is a small tpwn located in Rajasthan very close to the Taj City Agra, Pink City Jaipur and Holy City of Mathura.  Bharatpur is an ecstasy for the avian world and a treat to the eyes for the visitors who are mostly the nature and bird lovers.

The British Officials used to visit the place for duck shooting resort. However after the Independence the Indian Government in 1956 declared is reserve for birds and later it was upgraded to National Park. UNESCO has listed the sanctuary as a world heritage site.

The Sanctuary is only about 29 sq. km but it has variety of Avian species. There are over 375 species of beautiful birds in Bharatpur Sanctuary and over 132 of them breed inside the Keoladeo Ghana National Park and nearly every year new ones are added to the list.

The highlighting point of the sanctuary is that it attracts birds from other parts of the country and abroad from places like Russia, Europe, Siberia, China and Tibet.

If you are visiting Bharatpur you must be aware of the fact that the vehicles are only permitted upto Shanti Kutir inside the park. However for the convenience of the travelers and tourists the Electra Van of forest department can be engaged in the sanctuary.

But if you are a true nature and bird lover it is always advisable to explore the park is on foot or bicycles which are available on hire. You can also hire a Cycle rickshaws. Please make sure that you do not make big noise and do not litter the place. Please keep the place clean

Rajasthan has many ancient Temples of Gupta Style especially in the South Eastern Region of Rajasthan. If you are travelling between Kota and Jhalawar of Rajasthan then you will find 5th Century Gupta Temple at Darrah. The Pillars of this ancient Temple still stands intact and you will find a Museum here. It is a Perfect piece of Gupta workmanship.
Not to be missed the sanctum, vestibule and half man – Dapa at the Sheetaleshwara Temple at Jhalarapatnam. Built in 689 AD this is the earliest dated temple in Rajasthan. The Hall of the Temple in the fron was highly praised by Fergusson was added later in the next century.
There are few more Gupta period Temples in Rajasthan which you can see at Chittorgarh , Kota and Kansua. The reminiscent of Gupta workmanship can also be seen at Government Museums in Ajmer and Bharatpur in Rajasthan. These temples are no more now.

The Banswara district of Rajasthan forms was previously a princely state ruled by the Maharavals. The people believe that once a Bhil ruler named Bansia ruled this place and hence Banswara was named after him. Later in a battle Jagmal Singh defeated and killed Bansia and became the first Maharaval of the princely state.

Mahi Bajaj Sagar Project
It is one of the famous tourist spot near Banswara. Apart from this there are number of dams and canals situated at beautiful sites. The exquisite Mahi river in this area has a number of islands inside the Mahi Dam catchment area and thus Banswara is also known as the 'City of Hundred Islands'

Anand Sagar Lake
It is located about 3 kms from Banswara on the eastern side of the town. Anand sagar is a beautiful artificial lake, said to have constructed by Lachhi Bai Of Idar - The Rani of Maharawal Jagaml.  Near the lake you can also see the holy trees known as "Kalpa Vriksha" which are said to fulfill the desires of visitors
Cheench located about 18 Kms from Banswara is a famous 12th century temple of "Lord Brahma". The black stone statue is of an average man's height.

Diablab Lake
You can enjoy boating at the Diablab Lake just 1 km from the city. You would be delighted to see numerous Lotus Flowers in the lake and on the banks of the lake you can visit the small but beautifu Badal Mahal, the summer residence of the former rulers

Kagdi Pick Up Weir
Located about 3 km from Banswara the Kagdi Pick Up Weir is a commendable place to see, particularly for its fountains, gardens and water, spread over a wide area.
Arthuna
Located about 55 Kms from banswara is Arthuna where you will see the splendid complex of ancient temples which were built in the 11th and 12th centuries. The place used to be the capital of the Parmar Rulers in earlier times. It is called the village of old and broken temples.

Shri Raj Mandir – 16th Century Rajputana Architecture
Madareshwar Lord Shiva Temple about 4 Kms, Sai Baba temple, Abdulla Pir about 3 Kms from banswara. Bohra Community take part in the Urs every year.

Ram Kund is located about 25 Kms from Banswara and is surrounded by hills. It is also called Phati Khan by the locals because of the deep cave.

About 40 Kms from Banswara is Andeshwar Jain temple, Bhim Kund the famous picnic spot is located about 30 Kms.

The famous Sun Temple Talwara is located about 17 Kms from Banswara
